Kelowna Office: Grand Opening
Details:

As UFCW 1518 continues to grow and organize more workers in new sectors, we must ensure that our union representatives and leaders are able to support our members across BC. That’s why we have moved to a new office in downtown Kelowna. From our home base in the interior, we will host member meetings, union trainings and other events to engage members, potential members and the public in the important work of the union.

Please join President Kim Novak and Secretary-Treasurer Patrick Johnson for refreshments and appetizers provided by UFCW 1518 members at Urban Fare to celebrate the grand opening. Executive Board members and union representatives will also be on hand to celebrate our new space. Friends and family are welcome!

International Day of Older Persons
Details:

Almost 700 million people are now over the age of 60. By 2050, 2 billion people, over 20 per cent of the world’s population, will be 60 or older. With this in mind, enhanced attention to the particular needs and challenges faced by many older people is clearly required. Just as important, however, is the essential contribution the majority of older men and women can continue to make to the functioning of society if adequate guarantees are in place. Human rights lie at the core of all efforts in this regard. Click here for more information.
