Five Save-On members had improper disciplines removed from their files after the union got involved on their behalf and filed grievances against the company.
The union stepped in after a Save-On store manager gave verbal and written discipline to five members on nightcrew, accusing them of not being productive enough. The manager’s actions were wrong, and a direct violation of the contract.
The union members did the right thing and contacted their Union Representative, and the union filed three grievances on the incident.
The grievances have been settled, and the improper disciplines have been removed from the files of all five members.
“It’s important that all members are treated with respect,” says UFCW 1518 President Ivan Limpright, “and do not feel threatened in the workplace. It is the constant communication between members and their Shop Stewards and Union Reps that gives members the protection and representation they are entitled to. If you have any issues in your store, please do not hesitate to contact your Shop Steward or Union Rep so the issues can be addressed quickly.”
