The Community Bargaining Association, along with the HEABC, has awarded over $35,000 to 15 UFCW 1518 Health Care Sector members who were not paid properly.
During the 2006 round of negotiations, there was an agreement between the union and the employer that UFCW 1518 members, along with members from other unions in the Bargaining Association, would receive a one time payment for “straight-time hours paid between the first pay period prior to April 1, 2005 and the first pay period prior to March 31, 2006” over $35,000.
For most union members, this money was paid without any problems. However, 15 UFCW 1518 members either had errors with their payment, or were not paid at all. Finally, all of the claims have been resolved, as these members have now received the money they justly deserve.
“It’s great to see that the money these members work hard for everyday has been returned to them,” says UFCW 1518 President Ivan Limpright. “Our Health Care sector members are some of the most caring and hardworking people in the industry, and we’re pleased to see this issue has finally been resolved.”
