Health and Safety Workshops for Health Care members

TO: President Ivan Limpright and UFCW Staff:

I have just had an amazing experience, thanks to Local 1518. I was able to attend an Occupational Health and Safety Workshop that has been designed for Community Health Workers. WOW!!!!

First, a huge thank you to Larry Stofffman for his part in designing this empowering workshop. The mix of union and employers at the course was wonderful- it was a great opportunity for the employer to FINALLY hear that regardless of the fact that our work is different in many ways, we deserve to be as protected and safe as any other worker in this province.

Regardless of the challenges that we face daily, there are ways to keep us safer. Tools such as risk assessments, working alone policies and check in procedures, are vital for us, and they are the law!! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank President Limpright for his continuing commitment to education for the members and his support to the health sector of 1518.

And above all, sincere thanks to to Larry. Well done Brother!!!
