Sunrise Negotiations Update

Negotiations continue for union members employed at the Sunrise Plant in Surrey.

Talks with the employer are progressing. So far, the Union Negotiating Committee has heard a response from the employer on all non-monetary proposals. Several items have been agreed to, and when the parties meet next time they plan to begin discussion on monetary issues.

Union Active at SunWest

The union continues to work on behalf of members at the SunWest Processing Plant in Abbotsford, to ensure that their rights and benefits are protected.

As of May 1st 2007, union members at the plant voted to ratify the collective agreement; however, there are some issues outstanding issues that the union is still in the process of resolving. The union plans to meet with the Labour Board shortly to discuss, in particular, the implementation of pension plans, as it remains an outstanding issue.

Members will be notified once a resolution has been found.
