Walmart attacks right to free speech

September 03, 2009

By seeking a court injunction against www.walmartworkerscanada.ca, a not-for-profit labour rights website, Walmart is showing everyone that it's not just the world's biggest corporation -- it's also the world's biggest baby.

www.walmartworkerscanada.ca is six years old. It was launched in 2003, and has been helping Walmart "associates" ever since. If Walmart's injunction request was about protecting its trademark, it would have voiced its opposition to the website years ago -- instead of June 2009.

Walmart is crying foul and using trademark law to change a website because it doesn't like its message.

For a good laugh, watch the world's biggest baby throw a tantrum at www.walmartworkerscanada.ca/freespeech.

While you're there, make sure you take 20 seconds to send Walmart a protest letter, and please remember to forward this update to at least one friend.

Together we can beat Walmart on this issue and protect free speech on the internet.
