Mediator Sought in Shoppers Drug Mart #222 (Vancouver) negotiations
September 20, 2009
On September 17 and 18, the Union Negotiating Committee for Shoppers Drug Mart #222 (Fraser St., Vancouver) met with representatives of the employer to continue negotiations for improvements to our Collective Agreement.
Although the negotiations were initially productive, they soon became bogged down over the issue of the future of dental contributions. Other key issues, such as wages and the duration of the contract also remain unresolved.
Consequently the union has applied to the Labour Relations Board for the appointment of a mediator. We expect to hear shortly from the Labour Relations Board, and expect to have future bargaining dates confirmed in the next few weeks.
When the Union Negotiating Committee has concluded the next round of talks, we will report to you on the updated status of negotiations..
The Union Negotiating Committee is Liz Silva, Darrell Causey, and James Raposo.
