Abbotsford Rexall Workers Join UFCW 1518
January 20, 2010
Workers at Rexall Drugs in Abbotsford voted on January 8 to join UFCW 1518 to improve their workplace and to get the benefits other Rexall workers already enjoy as members of the union.
“I am proud to welcome these Rexall workers to our Local,” said Ivan Limpright, President of UFCW 1518. “These workers saw how UFCW 1518 won respect and better pay for our members at other Rexall stores which gave them another good reason to join.”
Rexall members in B.C. recently ratified a contract giving them a wage increase in all stores. Cashiers will now earn a top rate of $15.10 and clerks and pharmacy assistants will make $17.12. This allowed some workers to receive a raise of $2.46 an hour.
UFCW 1518 is rapidly growing into a union that strongly supports drug store workers and will continue to provide these workers looking to form a union in BC the best possible support.
Please visit Rexall Employees Joining a Union if you are a drug store worker interested in joining.
