“Negotiate, don’t legislate!” Ambulance Paramedics, labour movement Rally at Burnaby City Hall (photos)

January 28, 2010

On Wednesday, January 27, the B.C. labour movement came out to support Ambulance Paramedics and their union, CUPE BC, who are carrying on the fight against the B.C. Liberal’s improper use of legislation to end the Ambulance Paramedics’ strike.

3,500 striking CUPE 873 Ambulance Paramedics were forced back to work by Health Services Minister Kevin Falcon and the rest of B.C.’s Liberal government.

The BC Liberals made history – this was the first time a government in Canada imposed a collective agreement on employees at the same time that their union was conducting a vote on a final offer from the same government.
