9:05 PM: Cherry Park members vote 100% in favour of strike action

UFCW 1518 members employed at Cherry Park Retirement Residence in Penticton have tonight voted 100% in favour of strike action. The vote gives their Negotiating Committee a strong mandate at the bargaining table.

The Union Negotiating Committee last met with the employer on January 26 where the employer presented an offer, but at a meeting held on February 3, Cherry Park members rejected the employer’s offer.

At this time, there are no immediate plans to issue 72 hour strike notice.
