UFCW 1518 Reaches Peoplesoft Settlement with Safeway

UFCW 1518 has agreed to terms for a settlement agreement with Safeway regarding the issues created for members by the company’s Peoplesoft payroll software.

The terms and conditions of the settlement agreement are as follows:

  1. Canada Safeway will post an apology letter to all members of Local 1518.
  2. Any employee that has had an issue or concern with regards to their pay or their accruals as a result of the Peoplesoft conversion will receive a breakdown showing them a detailed explanation to resolve their issue.
  3. The company agrees to review and address any substantiated claim for any employee who has suffered a financial impact as a result of the Peoplesoft conversions.
  4. As a result of the Peoplesoft conversion, Local 1518 filed a number of individual grievance. The parties will resolve these grievances. Such resolution will include a breakdown for each individual employee and Canada Safeway will issue the individual greivor a letter of apology.

Safeway members who have questions or concerns regarding Peoplesoft issues are advised to go to their store managers. Ask the manager for a detailed explanation on whatever issue you have whether it is related to sick pay, ATO accrual, or anything else related to Peoplesoft payroll issues.

The union has retained the services of a certified general accountant and will be going to Safeway head office in Calgary to audit the processes and procedures regarding the payment of wages, benefits, accruals of ATO, vacation, sick time and more. All to ensure that the employer takes the needed steps to correct the errors of the past.

If any members have missed out on pay as result of Safeway’s Peoplesoft system, you simply need to provide the company with proof and you will be paid what you are entitled.
