BCFED Offers Spring H&S Courses in Kootenays
February 22, 2010
The B.C. Federation of Labour is offering Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) courses for all H&S Committee members. These are excellent courses covering regulatory rights to safe work, recognition and evaluation of key hazards encountered by workers, joint committee duties, inspections and incident investigations.
The course is being offered in various locations throughout the Kootenays this coming spring. UFCW 1518 H&S Worker Representatives and Co-chairs are encouraged to attend.
Please note that this one day paid education leave to take WorkSafeBC approved H&S courses is in addition to your right to attend the union’s upcoming H&S seminars. The one day paid education leave is a right for all committee members under the Workers Compensation Act. The employer must pay all reasonable costs of tuition, travel, and days wages to attend.
We recommend you take one of several courses offered through the B.C. Federation of Labour Health & Safety Education Centre. These courses are all approved by WorkSafeBC.
