Cherry Park Negotiations Go To Mediation

Following the 100% strike vote held on February 9 by UFCW 1518 members at Cherry Park, a retirement residence in Penticton, the employer has applied for mediation at the B.C. Labour Relations Board (LRB).

Mediation dates have been scheduled for March 30 and 31st. The Union had requested dates for mediation to take place immediately, but the employer was unavailable and refused to meet prior to March 30. Therefore the union agreed to the March 30-31 dates only on the condition that the strike vote deadline be extended.

The Union Negotiating Committee remains committed to reaching a fair and equitable collective agreement that meets the needs and best interests of our members. The Union Committee is Donna Tremblay and Marie Mackey.
