Are Salespeople Doing Your Work?

It’s happening again. At a time when hours cuts are taking away member’s ability to earn a living, salespeople continue to come into stores and perform the jobs that belong to members. 

On 2 separate occasions, and within 3 days, Coke salespeople came into a Safeway store and proceeded to do the duties that belong to union members. The work Coke has done in Safeway is not reserved for Coke employees - this work is the right of union members!

Coke’s actions violate Section 4 of the Collective Agreement. Two grievances have been filed, one for $200.00 for their first violation, and $300.00 for their second violation.

If you see any salespeople doing your work, please report these violations to your Shop Steward, your Union Rep, or email the union directly at webcontact@ufcw1518.com. The Union will file grievances and see that any stores guilty of violating the contract in this manner are fined. (All fine monies collected from the employers are put into the UFCW Pension Plan).
