UPDATE: Lockout over at Vancouver International Airport

August 13, 2010

After a 24-day lockout by employer Servisair, refueling supervisors and administrative staff at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) have returned to work, this time with their first collective agreement.

With this new contract in place it is expected that delays related to refueling at YVR will no longer take place.

Major YVR flight delays have occurred since July 19th, when refueling supervisors were locked out by Servisair, a Paris-based multinational corporation.

"Our members fought hard to achieve this agreement against a very difficult employer and I'm proud of their solidarity and determination," says Kay Sinclair, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President, BC. "We know our members will now work as cooperatively as possible with Servisair to return to providing excellent service to the traveling public."

The collective agreement, the first one for this newly organized group, expires March 15 2012.
