Save-On-Foods: It's too soon to end pandemic pay!

Grocery workers deserve better.

Save-On-Foods has decided to end its Pandemic Premium pay to employees during COVID-19.

Save-On-Foods workers have been doing an incredible job on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. Their critical work has helped to flatten the curve on the pandemic and protect the public. They have taken on additional risks and responsibilities as they interact with the public while many other workers have been asked to stay home.

Although we have made it through the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the crisis is far from over. Premier John Horgan has said that “we are far from out of the woods,” and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has warned us that there will be a second wave of the virus. It’s just too soon to end the Pandemic Premium.

Save-On-Foods workers will continue to protect the health and safety of their co-workers and the public by maintaining enhanced sanitation procedures, observing physical distancing, and keeping shelves stocked with essential supplies. They will continue to experience an increased risk as they go to work during Phase 2 of the pandemic response. Their work and the risks haven’t changed, so why has their pay?

Join us in asking Save-On-Foods to extend the Pandemic Premium. Save-On-Foods workers deserve this premium for their essential work. They have been doing their part to help fight COVID-19; Save-On-Foods needs to do its part to recognize their sacrifice.

Send a letter today to tell Save-On-Foods to extend the Pandemic Premium and make sure to share this campaign widely.
